One of the best things in the world is when you get on an elevator, hit your button, and then, as the door is around one inch from closing someone else walks up, hits the down button, and viola, your elevator opens back up for them.
They always look surprised and raise their eyebrows at you, as if wondering why you were sticking around waiting for them, and then they invariably look towards your floor selection. One of the rules of the universe is that they will NEVER EVER have to go to the same floor you are going to, and they will always need to go to a floor that gets off before you. This can not be explained or ignored.
If you are extra special lucky it will happen to you twice on the same floor, and the person who entered the elevator second will hit the "hold elevator" button for the third person who will of course have to go to a different floor than either you or the joiner, but for certain your floor will still be last.
These things fill me with GLEE.
